Cheese lovers rejoice: The Rind, a speciality cheese bar focusing on gourmet pairings of artisanal cheese plates with wine and beer, is projected to open in the old L Wine Lounge space November at 18th and L streets next to Buckhorn Grill.
“Our mission will be to pair wines, beers, ports and bubblies with the featured cheeses so you get to learn how to enjoy them together,” owner Sara Arbabian said. “We’re looking to create a really comfortable and fun environment where you sit down at the bar and order a cheese plate and a glass of whatever you’re jonesing for.”
The owners hope to open the new restaurant in November. Find them online at http://TheRindSacramento.com

The Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar - The best parts about this place are the ever-changing seasonal menu, laid back vibe, and sophisticated (yet welcoming) decor. They have a beautifully casual back patio and a cozy dinig room in the back that holds just one table for large parties (if I saw it correctly). This place is awesome, accommodating, and refreshing. Anyone in Sac or surrounding areas looking for a GF hot spot to try should check this place out! Kali at League of Urban Wifery.
Republic launches brunch service - Republic Bar & Grill, the downtown restaurant that started as an extension of Andrew Blaskovich’s popular food truck Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen, kicks off “Sacramento’s most twisted” brunch service tomorrow, July 29, with a menu that, like his truck, follows the culinary road less traveled. With service running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday (and soon Saturdays, too), Blaskovich will serve up items as diverse as biscuits and gravy with jalapeno and honey biscuits; the “15 Car Pile-Up” with “deconstructed breakfast tots” pan-fried with ham, bacon and sausage, two eggs and cheese topped with wasabi aioli; and a thick-cut French toast stuffed with sweetened cream cheese and berry compote, drizzled with Nutella and an optional topping of Pop Rocks (fitting for a restaurant filled with retro games like Skee-Ball and ’80s arcade games).
