Cowtowneats Guide to Wine and Dine Week 2009

I love Wine and Dine week (Saturday, July 4 to Sunday, July 12). It’s one of my two favorite food weeks of the year and each June, I start googling to see what restaurants will be participating this year. (In case you were wondering, my other favorite food week is Dine Downtown week held every January). I enjoy eating at some of the best restaurants in the greater Sacramento while getting a great deal.

With Wine and Dine week, you get a multi-course meal paired with wines at each course. I’m guestimating that you’re saving more than 25 percent off the price of the meal if you ordered it a la carte.

Here’s my advice to make it an even better deal. Find a friend who you don’t mind sharing food with. A significant other, friend with benefits, dude you want to start a bromance with, etc.

If it’s a restaurant that has a choice of dishes, each of you should order something different and try both. If there’s no choice of entrée, one of you should order the fixed menu and the other should just order something off the regular menu and share. It’s a great way to try more food at these great local restaurants, especially if you’re only going to be there once this year.

I’ve organized the restaurants by neighborhood and by price to help you figure out where you want to eat. But just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean it’s a better deal, so make your own judgment.
