Happy Hour at Malabar

What to do this weekend

I, for one, am ready for the heat. I know that’s a statement that I’ll regret after it’s been triple digits for 10 days in a row, but is a couple days of warm weather too much to ask for, Mother Nature? Anyway, on to the weekend

Friday:

FroYo Happy Hour (6 to 9 p.m., Yogurtagogo, 19th and L) – One in a class of trendy FroYo stores is turning 1, and is hosting a happy hour to celebrate. Buy 1, get 1 free (up to 8 oz, with a friend) Yogurtinis, with the flavors of Appletini, Margarita and Pina Colada. (JD from Scrubs is probably on his Vespa to try the appletini.) Free cake from 9 to 11 p.m., and a drawing for a bike, courtesy of City Bike Works, at 11 p.m. More info at http://www.yogurtagogo.com/ws1/anniversary.htm.

Concert in the Park (5 to 9 p.m., 10th and J,Cesar Chavez Park) - The band Shakedown headlines the Friday Night tradition with the requisite beer garden. Don't forget to get 2 beers per trip in the long beer line. More info at http://www.downtownsac.org/DSPAPP/V/promo/friday-night-concerts.html

Saturday:

Second Saturday (Midtown, various locations) – Either it’s a chance to view new artists while sipping on free wine and snacks, or it’s a parking nightmare for those who live in midtown. For me, it’s a little of both. But no matter how you view it, it’s this Saturday. An art map can be found at http://www.newsreview.com/sacramento/Artmap.
