Uber Arrives in Sacramento, Get $20 Credit Free via Cowtown Eats

Uber is the sign that your city is growing up. It's a service they have in San Francisco, Boston, New York, Washington DC and other large cities.

And now, they've come to Sacramento.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Uber, it's a smartphone app that helps arrange for a town car for your transportation needs. Whether it's a ride back from the bars at night after you've had a couple extra drinks or if you need a ride to the airport, Uber's app will help you with that.

All you have to do is fire up the app, tell them where you are and where you're going. They'll give you an ETA for pickup and a price with tip included and charge it directly to the credit card you have on file. When I've used it in other cities, I've been able to select what type of car you want (town car vs. SUV) so our group of 5 people didn't need to get two cabs. (I don't think this feature is offered at launch, but I hope when they get a better supply in the market, this will become an option.)

You won't have to scrounge around for cash. You won't have to waive your arms like a crazy person on J Street trying to hail a cab, and you won't have to worry about the taxi cab taking an out of the way route to make more money off you.

Uber is also offering Cowtown Eats readers a special treat.

If you sign up using promo code CowtownEats, you'll $20 off your first ride. (A lot of trips within the Grid will be $20 or less, so it can be a completely free ride!)

How to redeem:

2. Enter the promo code: CowtownEats

Have you looked at the prices? They're pretty steep. It is WAY cheaper to take a cab or just call Johnny's Town Car. $15 dollar minimum for the pickup? $60 to get from Midtown to the Airport when every other car service charged 45? No Bueno.

RETSEVLYS - $30 off Uber ride!
