'Kids at Heart' Fundraiser on Sat., Sept. 7
August 20, 2013
Please indulge me as I use this platform that I've built to share news about this important charity.
In the dining community, a big deal is made about spending our food dollars locally to support local farmers and ranchers. Shouldn't the same be true with our charitable donations?
The Green House is a Natomas-based non-profit that offers after school tutoring, mentoring and leadership development for the youth of the most densely-populated block of under-resourced kids in the greater Sacramento area.
They're holding their annual Kids at Heart fundraiser at Clunie Hall in McKinley Park on Sat., Sept. 7. This yearly event raises about a third of the charity's annual budget.
I've been in years past, and it's a fun event. But more importantly, you know that the dollars you donate directly benefit those who need it in our community.
Tickets are $60, and they include dinner, a silent auction, and a cake auction, where you and your table get together to bid on cakes that serve as dessert.
The deadline to buy tickets is this Friday, Aug. 23.
Here's a video with a little more info on the charity and the good work they do.
For more information, please visit http://www.thegreenhousecenter.org/#/kids-at-heart or visit them on Facebook.
I'll be there and I hope you consider either attending the event or sending them a couple bucks to help them out.
