Sac Restaurants, Chefs Shut Out of James Beard Awards This Year
February 19, 2014
Despite its push to become a destination for Farm to Fork cuisine, no Sacramento restaurant or chef made the list of semi-finalists for the James Beard Awards.
The awards are widely considered the Oscars of the restaurant world.
Last year, Frank Fat's garnered the American Classic award from the James Beard Foundation, and Sacramento-based (and friend) Hank Shaw won the award for Best Blog. In 2012, The Kitchen reached the semifinals round.

But that doesn't mean Sacramento doesn't have any connection to the James Beard Foundation. In the video above, Patrick Mulvaney of Mulvaney's B&L discusses his upcoming trip to cook at the James Beard House in New York.
