The Sac Bee will launch a new Feast section in this Sunday's newspaper to cover "food culture and lifestyle" as a compliment to their weekly Wednesday Food & Wine sections.
The Sac Bee's Chris Macias and features editor Tim Swanson discussed the new weekly section in a 15 minute interview on Capitol Public Radio's Insight, with guest host and former Bee scribe Rick Kushman earlier this week. In case you don't have 15 minutes to spare, here are the highlights.
- Adding to his current duties writing a wine column, blogging on the Bee's Appetizers blog and writing other pieces as the Bee's Food & Wine writer, Chris Macias will start writing a column called The Nosh Pit.
- The new section will focus on telling stories through the lens of food, be it politics, entertainment, etc.
- Part of the coverage will be "issue driven" such as the new "glove law" that requires chefs and bartenders to wear gloves while touching food.
- Due to the rising rents in midtown and the area near the arena, Macias predicts that we'll see restaurants start moving to Land Park and Tahoe Park.
