Dining News: Now Open - Wahoo's Fish Tacos

Wahoo's Fish Tacos, a Southern California-based restaurant featuring Mexican food mixed with Brazilian and Asian flavors, opens on Monday, reports Sactown Magazine.

More than five years after opening, the L Street Lofts building has hooked its first restaurant—a 3,000 square-foot Wahoo’s Fish Taco, a Santa Ana-based chain that started in 1988 and features an “eclectic Mexican/Brazilian/Asian menu and a Hawaiian north-shore vibe,” according to its website. The restaurant will open this Monday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m...

This will be Wahoo's first location in the Sacramento region. It has about three dozen restaurants in Southern California, three in Northern California (Sunnyvale, San Jose and Fresno) and has expanded to Colorado, Las Vegas, Austin, Texas, and recently opened its first franchises in New York City and Tokyo. The restaurant serves up tacos, burritos and enchiladas that come with either charbroiled fish, shrimp, steak, chicken, carnitas or tofu. They also serve salads and nachos and have both vegetarian and vegan options. Wahoo’s will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, and may add a weekend brunch service down the road. The space will have outdoor seating on L Street, and will also feature a full bar, including margaritas.

Restaurant employees had told me earlier that the restaurant was aiming for a July 21 opening date, pending permits, training, etc. It appears, that with many new establishments, it took a little longer than they hoped.

There was also twitter chatter that the restaurant would actually open this past weekend. I stopped by early Sunday evening, and a sign on the door said that only the bar was open. But when I tried the door, it was locked. Peeking through their windows, the restaurant looked ready to open.

Ray’s new restaurant, Sticky Fingers, scheduled to open the first week of September, will specialize in soul food and barbecue “in the traditional Southern ‘one (meat) and three (sides)’ setup, but I’m going to start with one and two,” he said. Get It While It’s Hot: Cochinita Tacos at Chando’s Tacos - A delicious new addition was recently found on the Chando’s Tacos menu: Cochinita tacos! Arden-Arcade gets new McDonald's - Sacramento franchisee Johnson Haller Inc. is opening a new McDonald's restaurant at the end of this month near the corner of Marconi and Fulton avenues. The restaurant will feature a drive-through lane, which is on the Fulton Avenue side of the lot. The corner of the lot is new occupied by a new CVS Pharmacy. Mark Anderson in Sac Biz Journal.
