Our long regional nightmare is about to come to an end. Beloved brunch (and now dinner) spot Bacon & Butter will reopen on Saturday, Sept. 27 in its new Tahoe Park location, reports Sactown Mag.
I stopped by on Sept. 10 to check out where they were in their construction process. As of 11 or 12 days ago, they were putting in flooring. It looked like a lot of the finish work to turn a room into a restaurant had yet to take place.
When I asked the construction crew there when the restaurant would open, they told me that it would be a "couple weeks."
Bacon & Butter closed its midtown location in mid-May. At that time, they said they would open the new location by Father's day. Then, they thought it might be in July, early August, late August, mid-September.
Per the Sac Bee, the restaurant's opening was delayed due to permitting issues, unexpected construction needs and a health issue with the architect.
Given the talent of chef & owner Billy Zoellin, I think it'll be worth the wait. I'm excited to give the new place a try, starting on Saturday.
Bacon & Butter will be located at 5913 Broadway, and can be found online at http://baconandbuttersac.com/.
Sacramento Burger Battle Wows the Crowds (and our stomachs!) - The people walking outside of Cesar Chavez Park and unable to get in to the sold-out Sacramento Burger Battle on Thursday must have been jealous, because, oh wow, did it smell amazing! The scent of flame-cooked burgers wafting in the smoky haze of grilled goodness filled the air as over 1000 people roamed the park sampling burgers all-you-can-eat-style. Bethany Harris in Sac Press.
Burger Battle proves buzz is as important as what's between the buns - As I debated the merits of a burger topped with peanut butter, grape jelly and Sriracha sauce, I knew there was no turning back. Strangely, I was OK with that. Sonya Sorich in Sac Biz Journal.

Week Two of Farm-to-Fork Celebration: Dinners, Festivals, and Drinks Rule Finale Week - With week one of the Farm-to-Fork Celebration behind us, week two promises to be just as exciting and jam-packed with great farm-centric events. The two-week event is Sacramento’s 2nd annual celebration of locally grown products. Serving also as a nod to our declaration of being America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, it shows how using real products and supporting and building relationships with local farmers, chefs, vintners, and breweries is good for both our community and our tables. Bethany Harris in Sac Press.
Farm-to-fork calendar: Events include culinary neighborhood tours - Not all Farm-to-Fork events are just about sitting at a table to enjoy local victuals. Several tours offer participants a look at the folks behind the food...Some of the big draws are sold out, but the number of farm-to-fork events happening all over the region has expanded since the inaugural farm-to-fork celebration last year. Mark Anderson in Sac Biz Journal.

Sammy's bar and grill is open again in Roseville — with some changes - The Sammy Hagar-themed restaurant in downtown Roseville is open again. But it's not the same place that closed abruptly last November. For one, the name is now Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill — not Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill. And Hagar is likely to be a much more frequent visitor, said Stan Novack, who oversees several restaurants bearing the rocker’s name. Ben van der Meer in Sac Biz Journal.
