Free Parking Evenings & Weekends on The Grid Through Christmas, Free Weekend Parking in Davis

Holidayparking2014

Continuing an annual holiday tradition, the City of Sacramento will again make parking on street, metered parking free through Dec. 25 on evenings and weekends in the Downtown, Midtown and Old Sac neighborhoods.

On weekdays, parking will be fee-free starting at 4:30 p.m., and all day on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the city's 4,000 new meters won't even accept your money during the free times. When's the last time the government refused to take your money?

Generally, the free parking zone will extend from Front Street on the western edge, 29th Street on the eastern edge, between I and L streets. See the map above for the exact boundaries of the free parking zone.

For more information, visit the city of Sacramento's Web site.

Not to be outdone, Davis is also offering free parking during the holiday season, per Wendy Weitzel the Davis Enterprise.

Starting Saturday, Nov. 29, downtown Davis shoppers will be given free unlimited parking on the weekends. The promotion ends on Sunday, Dec. 21.

This includes all regular 20-minute, 90-minute and two-hour spots on the street, and in city lots and garages. The metered lots will be free. It excludes the privately owned Davis Commons lot behind Whole Foods.
